Help Preserve Our History

The Town of Orange, Connecticut is a small and beautiful New England town, with our gorgeous Town Green and down home charm, coupled with its proximity to Long Island Sound and NYC, puts our town in a unique position. Town of Orange is represented by a variety of residents, including but not limited to, our amazing farmers, small and corporate businesses, restaurants, lawyers, doctors, accountants, all who work hard to improve their lives while respecting our towns history. Orange is one of the best places to live in Connecticut, offering residents a sparse suburban feel and most residents own their homes. We have many restaurants and bars, 2 beautiful hotels, coffee shops, ice cream shops, parks and recreational facilities and much more. The Orange Historical Society works hard to respect and preserve the history of our town, and its personality, the very thing that gives our town its character. Most people think of preserving history is just restoring old buildings and historical sites, like the Stone- Otis House, Bryan-Andrew House and, the Academy. But, preserving our town’s history, is one of the most important things we can do as citizens. Our history is the heart and soul of our town, and it’s vital to our future success and we all need to protect and preserve it. We can all honor the history of Orange by working with organizations that are already here in town by creating partnerships between corporations, small businesses, our local farms, in corporation with the town's planning department. These partnerships can lead to improved recreational facilities, create new traditions, events and festivals that will help to build a stronger community for the future! Truly embracing our town slogan “A Great Place To Live!” We are fortunate and blessed to live in an absolutely spectacular place. If we engage our community and focus on preserving our historical roots, while working toward economic growth, we will continue to find ourselves in a town that we are ALL proud of. With this in mind, do you have any memorabilia that you would like to donate to the Academy Museum? Please call us at 203 795-3106, do you have any old photos or past town events? we are always looking for old images around town, current businesses or ones long past. Please send them, we would love to share them on our website. Just snap photos with your phone and email to images@orangehistory.org We can’t wait to see them and thank you for sharing!!
